# manifest_invalid

> guv.yaml is not valid. Your guv.yaml does not match the manifest schema, so Guv will not plan or apply it.

**guv.yaml is not valid.** Your `guv.yaml` does not match the manifest schema, so Guv will not plan or apply it. Nothing has changed.

- **HTTP status:** `422 Unprocessable Content`
- **CLI exit code:** `2` (the request or file is not valid)
- **Retry:** not as it is; the same request will fail the same way until the cause is fixed

## How to fix it

Run `guv validate` and fix the issues it lists.

1. Run `guv validate` locally; it prints every problem with its line number.
2. Add `$schema: https://guv.dev/schema/v1.json` to the top of the file so your editor highlights mistakes as you type.

## What the response looks like

```json
{
  "type": "https://guv.dev/errors/manifest_invalid",
  "title": "guv.yaml is not valid",
  "status": 422,
  "code": "manifest_invalid",
  "detail": "Your `guv.yaml` does not match the manifest schema, so Guv will not plan or apply it.",
  "fix": "Run `guv validate` and fix the issues it lists.",
  "docs_url": "https://guv.dev/errors/manifest_invalid",
  "request_id": "req_01jbx2m9k7q4r8t5v6w3y0z1rq"
}
```

The `code` field is stable: match on it, not on `title` or `detail`, which may be reworded.
